大阪市住之江区の概要〔成立〕 昭和49年（1974）年に住吉区の分区により誕生〔面積〕 20.68平方キロメートル〔人口〕 116,819人 (令和6年4月1日現在)〔区の花〕 さざんか〔区のマスコットキャラクター〕 さざぴー〔概要〕大阪市の湾岸部南端に位置し、北部は木津川に、南部は大和川に、西部は大阪湾に接しており、大阪市最大の面積を持つ。古くは、区の東部の粉浜・安立地域まで海に面しており、区の大半は江戸期における大和川の付け替えとそれに伴う浅瀬の拡大や加賀屋甚兵衛による新田開発等によりできた陸地である。明治以降には大阪府住吉郡、明治29（1896）年には東成郡（粉浜村、安立町、墨江村、敷津村）となり、大正14（1925）年の大阪市編入により大阪市住吉区となる。昭和30年代から昭和42年ごろにかけて大正区小林、千島 ...
