Library of Congress Honors New Jersey and Michigan Libraries for Outstanding Service to Readers with Disabilities The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) at the Library of Congress today recognized two of its cooperating libraries in New Jersey and Michigan for their outstanding service to readers with visual, physical or print disabilities. The New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center in Trenton, New Jersey, received the 2023 Regional Library of the Year Award, while the Library for the Visually and Physically Disabled Branch of Muskegon Area District Library in Muskegon, Michigan, received the Sub-regional Library/Advisory and Outreach Center of the Year Award. Ada Limón: 'You Are Here' U.S. Poet Laureate to Publish Anthology, Bring Poetry to National Parks Ada Limón’s signature project as the nation’s 24th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, “You Are Here,” will feature two major new initiatives: an anthology of commissioned nature poems and poetry installed as public art in seven national parks. “I want to champion the ways reading and writing poetry can situate us in the natural world,” Limón said. “Never has it been more urgent to feel a sense of reciprocity with our environment, and poetry’s alchemical mix of attention, silence, and rhythm gives us a reciprocal way of experiencing nature — of communing with the natural world through breath and presence.” Click here for more information . タイトル: Unique solvent effect of water in radical cyclization reaction著者: Suzuki, Sara; Govind, Soni Aman; Imamura, Kosuke; Yorimitsu, Hideki; Shinokubo, Hiroshi; Higashi, Masahiro; Sato, Hirofumi抄録: The radical cyclization reaction in the aqueous environment by Yorimitsu et al. is revisited using the RISM-SCF-cSED method, a hybrid of quantum chemistry and statistical mechanics theory for molecular liquids. The difference between the barrier height of the forward reaction from the intermediate E-rot, the cyclization step, and that of the backward reaction is crucial to the reaction yield. Considering the effect of hydrogen bonding through the RISM theory, we found that the barrier height for the forward reaction is lower, especially in water. In other words, considering microscopic solvation effects clearly shows the difference between water and DMSO solvents, explaining the remarkable acceleration of the reaction in the aqueous environment.

MNPs are taken up by cancer cells, enabling intracellular MHT. Subcellular localization of MNPs can affect the efficiency of intracellular MHT. In this study, we attempted to improve the therapeutic efficacy of MHT by using mitochondria-targeting MNPs. Mitochondria-targeting MNPs were prepared by the modification of carboxyl phospholipid polymers containing triphenylphosphonium (TPP) moieties that accumulate in mitochondria. Library of Congress Awards 2023-2024 National Stereoscopic Association Research Fellowships The Library of Congress today announced Rachel Lee Hutcheson, Isabelle Lynch and Lynn Marie Mitchell as its next class of fellows awarded the National Stereoscopic Association Research Fellowship. Library of Congress Releases Newly Digitized Hebrew Manuscripts The Library of Congress has released some 230 newly digitized manuscripts written in Hebrew and similar languages such as Judeo-Arabic, Judeo-Persian and Yiddish. The collection, available online for researchers and the public for the first time, includes a 14 th century collection of responsa by Solomon ibn Adret of Barcelona, considered one of the most prominent authorities on Jewish law of all time. The full digital project, funded by the David Berg Foundation , offers a highly diverse collection of materials from the 10 th through the 20 th centuries, including responsa or rabbinic decisions and commentary, poetry, Jewish magic, and folk medicine.
