タイトル: A New Small-Sized Species of Orobdella (Hirudinea: Erpobdelliformes: Orobdellidae) from Mount Hehuan, Central Taiwan著者: Nakano, Takafumi; Lai, Yi-Te抄録: A small-type quadrannulate leech species of Orobdella Oka, 1895, O. minima sp. nov., from Mt. Hehuan in central Taiwan is described. Phylogenetic analyses using nuclear 18S rRNA, 28S rRNA, histone H3, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, [Cys]tRNA, [Met]tRNA, 12S rRNA, [Val]tRNA, 16S rRNA, [Leu]tRNA and NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1 markers revealed that O. minima forms a clade with the middle-type quadrannulate O. ketagalan Nakano and Lai, 2012, which is endemic to northern Taiwan. This clade was sister to the other Taiwanese middle-type quadrannulate O. meisai Nakano and Lai, 2017. The density functional theory has been widely employed as a method for theoretical calculation of the band gap, but it underestimates the band gap compared to the experimental value. Additionally, the hybrid functionals or the GW method, which offers higher prediction accuracy, entails high computational costs. Therefore, there has been a growing interest in data-driven approaches utilizing machine learning to mitigate computational costs and enhance prediction accuracy. However, it is extremely challenging to find out the best conditions of strain with unprecedented physical properties in the vast strain space consisting of six components. タイトル: Short-wave fadeout on mars: Radio absorption in the dayside martian ionosphere enhanced by solar flares著者: Harada, Y.; Sánchez-Cano, B.; Lester, M.; Ippolito, A.抄録: Solar flares can cause radio absorption in the D region of the Earth's ionosphere and consequently interrupt high-frequency radio communication systems, also known as short-wave fadeout or the Dellinger effect. We present an analogous radio absorption event observed at Mars during a solar flare. In this event, the Mars Express Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionospheric Sounding (MARSIS) instrument fortuitously operated at low altitudes on the dayside around the terminator in a favorable configuration for surface echo measurements at the flare peak. The surface echo power during the flare is abnormally weak compared to nominal echo powers at corresponding solar zenith angles, suggesting flare-induced radio absorption in the dayside lower ionosphere of Mars.
