Regioselective anti-Silyllithiation of Propargylic Amines

from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/3/1 9:00:00)
タイトル: Regioselective anti-Silyllithiation of Propargylic Amines著者: Sato, Tomohiko; Karad, Somnath N.; Shimokawa, Jun; Yorimitsu, Hideki抄録: The regioselective anti-silyllithiation of propargylic amines is developed to facilitate the efficient synthesis of alkenylsilanes. This reaction generates an alkenyllithium intermediate that is stabilized by the formation of a five-membered cyclic structure through intramolecular coordination of the nitrogen functional group. Upon subsequent treatment with an electrophile, the alkenyllithium intermediate is further functionalized to afford tetrasubstituted allylic amines bearing a β-silicon substituent.

Although CT number calibration curves registered in treatment planning systems (TPSs) should be consistent with human tissues, it is unclear whether adequate CT number calibration is performed because CT number calibration curves have not been assessed for various types of CT number calibration phantoms and TPSs.; P ...
Continuous inhalation of essential oil increases gray matter volume

from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/3/1 9:00:00)
タイトル: Continuous inhalation of essential oil increases gray matter volume著者: Kokubun, Keisuke; Nemoto, Kiyotaka; Yamakawa, Yoshinori抄録: Research into the health benefits of scents is on the rise. However, little is known about the effects of continuous inhalation, such as wearing scents on clothing, on brain structure. Therefore, in this study, an intervention study was conducted on a total of 50 healthy female people, 28 in the intervention group and 22 in the control group, asking them to wear a designated rose scent on their clothes for a month. The effect of continuous inhalation of essential oil on the gray matter of the brain was measured by calculating changes in brain images of participants taken before and after the intervention using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The results showed that the intervention increased the gray matter volume (GMV) of the whole brain and posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) subregion. On the other hand, the GMV of the amygdala and or ...
Seasonal Modulation of Crustal Seismicity in Northeastern Japan Driven by Snow Load

from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/3/1 9:00:00)
タイトル: Seasonal Modulation of Crustal Seismicity in Northeastern Japan Driven by Snow Load著者: Ueda, Taku; Kato, Aitaro; Johnson, Christopher W; Terakawa, Toshiko抄録: Numerous studies have reported that surface hydrological loading can seasonally modulate seismicity rates at crustal depths. For example, substantial winter snow accumulation occurs across the Japanese Islands, and these snowy regions appear to have seasonally modulated the occurrence of previous large inland earthquakes. Therefore, it is important to investigate the impact of seasonal stress changes on crustal seismicity to deepen our understanding of earthquake generation. Here we constrain seasonal changes in the surface load across northeastern Japan using Global Navigation Satellite System surface displacements and evaluate the potential relationship between temporal trends in inland seismicity and estimated seasonal stress changes. The spatial distribution of the seasonal surface load is consistent with ...
Port Reduction of Multiport Cauer Ladder Network

from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/3/1 9:00:00)
タイトル: Port Reduction of Multiport Cauer Ladder Network著者: Matsuo, Tetsuji; Ozeki, Toshihiro; Hiruma, Shingo; Mifune, Takeshi抄録: The multiport Cauer ladder network (CLN) method is an efficient and accurate model order reduction (MOR) method for multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) systems. This manuscript discusses a theoretical aspect of port reduction in multiport CLN to generate a further reduced system. An intuitively derived method is found to be inaccurate. A recurrence formula and its practical implementation are presented to generate an accurate reduced system, which is proven by computational examples.
From plastic to peace: Overcoming public antipathy through environmental cooperation

タイトル: From plastic to peace: Overcoming public antipathy through environmental cooperation著者: Uji, Azusa; Lim, Sijeong; Song, Jaehyun抄録: Citizen distrust towards the rival country is a defining feature of protracted international rivalries, undermining meaningful cooperation that can lead to mutual benefits. How might governments establish a public opinion base that is more supportive of cooperation with the rival country? We argue that information about ongoing environmental cooperation with the rival country makes citizens more supportive of non-environmental cooperation by changing their beliefs about the rival’s trustworthiness and facilitating extrinsic reciprocity. We investigate this potential micro-level cooperation spillover in the context of the longstanding rivalry between Japan and South Korea. Our survey-based experiment finds that information about cooperation on marine plastic pollution shapes the public’s willingness to cooperate in terms of the econ ...

E-contact facilitated by conversational agents reduces interethnic prejudice and anxiety in Afghanistan

タイトル: E-contact facilitated by conversational agents reduces interethnic prejudice and anxiety in Afghanistan著者: Sahab, Sofia; Haqbeen, Jawad; Hadfi, Rafik; Ito, Takayuki; Imade, Richard Eke; Ohnuma, Susumu; Hasegawa, Takuya抄録: Intergroup contact occurring through indirect means such as the internet has the potential to improve intergroup relationships and may be especially beneficial in high conflict situations. Here we conducted a three-timepoint online experiment to ascertain whether the use of a conversational agent in E-contact platforms could mitigate interethnic prejudices and hostility among Afghanistan’s historically segregated and persistently conflictual ethnic groups. 128 Afghans of Pashtun, Tajik, and Hazara backgrounds were assigned to one of four E-contact conditions (control with no conversational agent and three experimental groups that varied in the conversational agent settings). Participants in the experimental conditions contributed more ideas and ...
