タイトル: Meshless Non-Parametric Shape Design of Piecewise Approximately Developable Surfaces Using Discretized Local Gauss Map著者: Hayakawa, Kentaro; Ohsaki, Makoto; Zhang, Jingyao抄録: A meshless and non-parametric approach is proposed for shape design of curved surfaces consisting of approximately developable surface patches. A local Gauss map is defined at the grid point of a surface, and its developability is evaluated based on the area of the local Gauss map. An optimization problem is formulated for minimizing the sum of square areas of the local Gauss map at the grid points of the surface with specified boundary shape. Internal boundaries between the approximately developable surface patches are generated by relaxing the developability at the selected grid points. The effectiveness of the proposed method for generating various shapes of piecewise approximately developable surface is demonstrated in the numerical examples.

Title: Identification of cheese rancidity-related lipases in Aspergillus oryzae AHU 7139Authors: Chintagavongse, Napaporn; Kumura, Haruto; Hayakawa, Toru; Wakamatsu, Jun-ichi; Tamano, KoichiAbstract: The adjunct product with enzymatic activity from Aspergillus oryzae is beneficial for flavor enrichment in the ripened cheese. However, an excessive lipolytic reaction leads to the release of volatile free fatty acids. Accordingly, a strong offflavor (i.e., rancidity) has been detected when A. oryzae AHU 7139 is used. To identify the rancidity -related lipase from this strain, we evaluated the substrate specificity and lipase distribution using five mutants cultured on a whey -based solid medium under different initial pH conditions. The results showed a higher diacylglycerol lipase activity than triacylglycerol lipase activity. Moreover, an initial pH of 6.5 for the culture resulted in higher lipolytic activity than a pH of 4.0, and most of the activity was found in the extracellular frac ...

Title: Topology Optimization of a Surface Permanent Magnet Motor With High Torque DensityAuthors: Hayashi, Shogo; Yatsurugi, Manabu; Kubota, Yoshihisa; Soma, Shingo; Igarashi, HajimeAbstract: This article introduces a topology optimization method for a surface permanent magnet (SPM) motor with high torque density suitable for air mobility. The proposed method can be used to determine the material distribution and magnetization direction in PMs to maximize the torque density at a constant current. The torque performance of the optimized motor is superior to that of a conventional motor with a Halbach array, whose magnetization varies linearly along the circumferential direction. The novel optimized motor has a triangular magnetic material on the rotor surface and an air region inside the rotor.
A Comprehensive Optimal Design of Inductors Using Monte Carlo Tree Search

Title: A Comprehensive Optimal Design of Inductors Using Monte Carlo Tree SearchAuthors: Yin, Shuli; Sato, Hayaho; Igarashi, HajimeAbstract: This article presents a strategy of optimizing inductors with non-linear properties, using Monte Carlo tree search (MCTS). Compared with the existing optimization tools, the proposed method can simultaneously optimize global configuration, such as material, number of turns and winding arrangement, and local geometry. It indicates that the strategy statistically provides a best solution from global and local aspects after iterations with different lengths of chromosomes, which is challenging in conventional optimization techniques. The covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) is used to solve the parametric optimization. For validation, the optimizations on 2-D inductors are performed. The proposed method is very suitable for the optimization of devices with possibly different global configurations. The most notable originality of t ...

タイトル: Sweet Memories of Fieldwork in the pre-Computer Era著者: MATISOFF, James A.記述: The 55th International Conference on Sino-Tibetan Languages and Linguistics (ICSTLL-55) was held on September 15th–18th, 2022 at Kyoto University in Japan. The organizing committee of ICSTLL-55 planned to invite Prof. James A. Matisoff to Kyoto and asked him to make a keynote speech at the venue, but due to the disaster of COVID-19, he was unable to visit Japan and was forced to give his lecture online. The keynote speech was titled: Sweet memories of fieldwork in the pre-computer era, which was presented on September 15 Thursday from 9:30 am JST (14 Wednesday 17:30 PDT). In compiling this volume of research papers presented at ICSTLL-55, we have decided, with the approval of Professor Matisoff, to include the transcript of his keynote speech at ICSTLL-55.
タイトル: 内陆闽语非南朝吴语直系后代说著者: 沈, 瑞清; 盛, 益民抄録: The hypothesis that “modern Wu, Min dialects are both derived from Wu dialect of the Southern dynasties or Jiangdong Fangyan” has received wide acceptance since it was proposed by Norman (1983) and Ding (1988). However, the hypothesis is largely based on evidences of shared retention rather than shared innovation. While the previous evidence can demonstrate that modern Wu, Min dialects are closely related to Wu dialect of the Southern dynasties, they are not sufficient to portray the exact genetic relationship among them. In this paper, we reexamined the hypothesis according to some linguistic innovations attested in Wu dialect of the Southern dynasties, namely the lexical replacement in the pronoun system involving ‘he/she’, ‘Plural for Personal Pronoun’, ‘That’, ‘How (heavy)’, and ‘What’. It is found that while the innovative pronoun forms are attested in modern Wu ...
