タイトル: Neural network representation of quantum systems著者: Hashimoto, Koji; Hirono, Yuji; Maeda, Jun; Totsuka-Yoshinaka, Jojiro抄録: It has been proposed that random wide neural networks near Gaussian process are quantum field theories around Gaussian fixed points. In this paper, we provide a novel map with which a wide class of quantum mechanical systems can be cast into the form of a neural network with a statistical summation over network parameters. Our simple idea is to use the universal approximation theorem of neural networks to generate arbitrary paths in the Feynman's path integral. The map can be applied to interacting quantum systems/field theories, even away from the Gaussian limit. Our findings bring machine learning closer to the quantum world.

Semianalytical model of optothermal fluidics in a confinement
from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/12/1 9:00:00)
from Kyoto University Research Information Repository (2024/12/1 9:00:00)
タイトル: Semianalytical model of optothermal fluidics in a confinement著者: Tsuji, Tetsuro; Saito, Shun; Taguchi, Satoshi抄録: In this paper, we provide the semianalytical solution of the temperature and flow fields of a fluid confined in a narrow space between two parallel plates. The temperature increase is triggered by photothermal effects of fluids and/or boundaries due to the absorption of a focused Gaussian beam irradiated perpendicular to the fluid film, and then the temperature variation induces the flow fields through a buoyancy force and/or thermo-osmotic slip. The semianalytical solution to this optothermal fluidic system is validated by comparing with the results of numerical simulation, and is applied to typical optothermal fluidic problems. In particular, the optothermal trap of nanoparticles observed in our previous experiment [Tsuji et al., Electrophoresis 42, 2401 (2021)] is investigated in terms of thermophoretic force and flow drag that are obtained semianal ...
Size-dependent guest-memory switching of the flexible and robust adsorption characteristics of layered metal-organic frameworks

タイトル: Size-dependent guest-memory switching of the flexible and robust adsorption characteristics of layered metal-organic frameworks著者: Watanabe, Satoshi; Hiraide, Shotaro; Arima, Homare; Fukuta, Akiko; Mori, Miyuki; Tanaka, Hideki; Miyahara, Minoru T.抄録: Flexible-robust metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which exhibit unique hybrid nature comprising both flexible and rigid framework characteristics, exhibit high potential for hydrocarbon separations. However, no clear guidelines have been established to regulate their hybrid characteristics owing to limited understanding of their adsorption mechanism. This study investigates the effects of the particle size of a flexible-robust MOF on its adsorption and structural transition behaviors. The robust nature originates from the structural transition of a metastable guest-free structure, while its flexible nature arises from another guest-free structure. The type of guest-free structure is predominantly determined by the part ...
Design and experimental demonstration of photonic-crystal lasers with multijunction active layers

タイトル: Design and experimental demonstration of photonic-crystal lasers with multijunction active layers著者: Katsuno, Shumpei; Yoshida, Masahiro; Inoue, Takuya; De Zoysa, Menaka; Hatsuda, Ranko; Ishizaki, Kenji; Noda, Susumu抄録: We introduce multijunction active layers, featuring a stack of alternating active layers and tunnel junctions, to photonic-crystal surface-emitting lasers (PCSELs) to increase their slope efficiency, which is vital for various applications including laser processing and LiDAR. First, we design a multijunction PCSEL that avoids optical absorption in the heavily-doped tunnel junctions while allowing sufficient optical gain and resonance effects in the active and photonic crystal layers. Next, we fabricate a 3-mm-diameter two-junction PCSEL, achieving a slope efficiency of 1.58 W A⁻¹, which is over twice as high as that of conventional single-junction PCSELs, and a record-high peak output power of 1.8 kW for PCSELs.
