タイトル: Superprotonic conduction of {NBu₄₋ₙ(enOH)ₙ}[MnCr(ox)₃] (Bu = n-butyl; enOH = 2-hydroxyethyl; n = 1-3) in successive multiplication of hydroxyl proton-carrier in the cation著者: Ōkawa, Hisashi; Yoshida, Yukihiro; Kitagawa, Hiroshi抄録: Proton conduction in a new series of 2-dimensional metal-organic frameworks, {NBu₄₋ₙ(enOH)ₙ}[MnCr(ox)3] (n = 1: (B₃O)MnCr; n = 2: (B₂O₂)MnCr; n = 3: (BO₃)MnCr), was studied with respect to their molecular and network structures. Crystallographic studies revealed that (B₃O)MnCr consisted of honeycomb-based oxalate-bridged bimetallic [MnCr(ox)₃]⁻ sheets with {NBu₃(enOH)}⁺ ions intercalated in between. The enOH group was inserted into the cavity of the honeycomb sheet and the hydroxy group protruded out of the cavity to form a hydroxyl-face on the sheet, which played a pivotal role in proton conduction via the vehicle mechanism under low relative humidity. Under high relative humidity conditions, water a ...

タイトル: Automatic facies classification using convolutional neural network for three-dimensional outcrop data: Application to the outcrop of the mass-transport deposit著者: Sato, Ryusei; Kikuchi, Kazuki; Naruse, Hajime抄録: Recent advancements in three-dimensional (3-D) facies modeling of outcrops have enabled their prompt reconstruction through drone photogrammetry. Such 3-D outcrop models facilitate the understanding of spatial lithofacies distributions and serve as valuable tools for quantitative analysis. Nevertheless, challenges persist in identifying facies within the digital models of large-scale outcrops. To address this issue, this study proposes a method for automatically recognizing outcrop facies, using a convolutional neural network (CNN) model applied to a 3-D point cloud of an outcrop. The process involves constructing a 3-D outcrop point cloud through drone photogrammetry and translating the point cloud into a series of two-dimensional images containing the co ...
Spin switching in Sm[0.7]Er[0.3]FeO[3] triggered by terahertz magnetic-field pulses

タイトル: Spin switching in Sm[0.7]Er[0.3]FeO[3] triggered by terahertz magnetic-field pulses著者: Zhang, Zhenya; Kanega, Minoru; Maruyama, Kei; Kurihara, Takayuki; Nakajima, Makoto; Tachizaki, Takehiro; Sato, Masahiro; Kanemitsu, Yoshihiko; Hirori, Hideki抄録: Driving spin systems to states far from equilibrium is indispensable in investigations of functional nonlinearities of antiferromagnets for spintronics. So far, it has been shown that electric-field pulses in the spectral region from the visible to the terahertz range can be used to induce ultrafast switching between different spin states. Here we demonstrate that a multicycle terahertz magnetic-field pulse can be used to induce non-thermal spin switching in antiferromagnets. When a strong pulse is applied to Sm[0.7]Er[0.3]FeO[3], the magnetic order parameter is first driven away from the barrier between the two potential minima of this antiferromagnet and then, in the subsequent inertial motion towards the opposite dire ...

タイトル: Genome-wide study suggests inheritance of personality traits in Toy Poodles and Miniature Dachshunds著者: Zemmoto, Chika; Matsumoto, Yuki; Arahori, Minori; Inoue-Murayama, Miho抄録: Domestic dogs exhibit significant diversity in both morphology and personality. Recent studies focusing on large-breed dogs reported the contribution of genetic factors to personality. However, the genetic influence in small-breed dogs remains unexplored. In the present study, we investigated the personality of two small-breed dogs using a questionnaire and genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphism data obtained from 301 Toy Poodles and 183 Miniature Dachshunds using the Illumina CanineHD 230K SNP BeadChip. The factor analysis conducted on a questionnaire consisting of 39 items identified seven factors. Among the seven personality factors, ‘activeness’ in Toy Poodles and ‘human-directed sociability’ in Miniature Dachshunds had an estimated heritability of 0.425 (SE = 0.311) an ...

タイトル: Highly Efficient and Precise Rare-Earth Elements Separation and Recycling Process in Molten Salt著者: Hua, Hang; Yasuda, Kouji; Norikawa, Yutaro; Nohira, Toshiyuki抄録: Owing to the worldwide trend towards carbon neutrality, the number of Dy-containing heat-resistant Nd magnets used for wind power generation and electric vehicles is expected to increase exponentially. However, rare earth (RE) elements (especially Dy) are unevenly distributed globally. Therefore, an environmental-friendly recycling method for RE elements with a highly precise separation of Dy and Nd from end-of-life magnets is required to realize a carbon-neutral society. As an alternative to traditional hydrometallurgical RE separation techniques with a high environmental load, we designed a novel, highly efficient, and precise process for the separation and recycling of RE elements from magnet scrap. As a result, over 90% of the RE elements were efficiently extracted from the magnets using MgCl₂ an ...
